Download segments from the movie here:
Due to the total running time of the entire movie, I decided to upload the movie in small segments. I'll attempt to upload the succeeding segments in the upcoming weeks. Based on bandwidth, if necessary, I'll remove the older segments whenever I upload new ones, then "cycle" through them.

What can I say about this movie? Too many things.

One Hit Master is my (Lucan's) first movie project. I spent two and a half years stumbling through how to make a movie while trying to make this one. I was overly ambitious and wanted to make a feature length movie as my first project. In retrospect, I wonder if that was a good idea... ^^; In the end, the movie ended up being shorter than an hour. ;_; I will say this, though: I learned a considerable amount because of that.

It all started when my father and I saw Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven back in 1992. After stepping out from the movie theater, he said, "Gee, I wish someone would make a samurai version of this movie." It wasn't uncommon for samurai movies to be remade as westerns. He was suggesting someone should go in the other direction. At the time, the technology to make anything remotely close to what I wanted wasn't affordable. Flash forward to 2002. I met Shaun Charney, saw what he was doing, and one day, I said to myself, "Maybe I can do this now."

I started filming December 14, 2002. I had a lot of movie growing pains to go through before even setting up this web site. XD

This movie is entirely in Japanese. Yes, you read that right. IT'S ENTIRELY IN JAPANESE. There is no English dialogue in this whatsoever. All the characters, if they speak at all, speak Japanese at all times.
STORY

1867 Japan. There's a revolution going on. The Satsuma-Choshu alliance is taxing the resources and manpower of the Shogunate. In one area known as the, "Foreigners' Town," its warriors either joined the anti-Shogunate forces or sided with the Shogunate in battle. As a result, police officers who maintained the peace in town disappeared. In order to make up for the shortage in manpower, the local magistrate, Shigeki Matsudaira, made ninjas his vassals and they are now the town's police officers.

Several foreigners roughed up a girl in a brothel a little too much. The owner of the brothel was happy with getting money to pay for her life - but her friends weren't. They pooled their money together and had 1000 ryo, which they offered to anyone who kills those foreigners. Word started to spread outside of the town's borders.

Enter a young man known as, "Grim Reaper Kid." He's out to get the bounty and wants a retired bodyguard and homicidal maniac, Ban'no Kazara, as his partner. At first, Ban'no refuses but he later joins in on the job and brings another partner in crime (Gonzalez) with him. Gonzalez becomes hesitant toward killing anyone during the job and decides to quit. Ban'no and the Grim Reaper Kid later succeed in completing the work and collecting the bounty.

Something has gone awry. While Gonzalez didn't kill anyone, he was captured as an accomplice by the ninjas. During an "interrogation," Gonzalez is killed by Magistrate Matsudaira. When this news reaches his ears, Ban'no tells the Grim Reaper Kid to skip town while he finishes up another job which doesn't involve money...

This movie is in postproduction.
